Pearls and Stars focuses on an eclectic mix of fashion. In the outfits I wear are a mix of vintage, vintage reproduction, high fashion and thrift store finds. I want to present outfits that are unique, creative and fun. I am also in the process of developing my own fashion line, so I will also mix in items from this as well.
I started this blog for several reasons. One, I love to write. The second is, I love fashion. The third is, in a search of the internet I really could not find any blog with the type of outfits I was looking for, so I decided to put together some of my own.
Where Did the Blog’s Name Come From?
The name Of Pearls and Stars comes from a poem by Heinrich Heine, a german poet from the Romantic period. The poem itself is a love poem to a woman he cared about and has absolutely nothing to do with my love of vintage clothing, other than liking the poem, I thought it would make a nifty title.
Here is the poem, translated by Henry Wordsworth Longfellow if you should be interested:
The pearly treasures of the sea,
The lights that spatter heaven above,
More precious than these wonders are
My heart-of-hearts filled with your love.
The ocean’s power, the heavenly sights
Cannot outweigh a love filled heart.
And sparkling stars or glowing pearls
Pale as love flashes, beams and darts.
So, little, youthful maiden come
Into my ample, feverish heart
For heaven and earth and sea and sky
Do melt as love has melt my heart.
