From the first time I saw ” Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”, one of the dresses worn by Marylin Monroe has been on my fantasy film fashion bucket list, and that dress is the one that inspired this one. In the movie, the dress is actually made up of two pieces, a cape and a dress, both made of entirely out of leopard print. I had a real affinity for almost anything leopard print, especially when it comes to fashion.
For the version for my fashion line, I wanted to be inspired by the dress while adding some of my own ideas to the original design. As stated before, the original dress worn by Marylin was cape worn with a dress under. It had a turtleneck which might look great but really aren’t that comfortable. I decided to create a cape dress which has actually been a very popular style on the catwalks in the last few years, done most famously by Valentino.
The dress is a form fitting pencil dress in a black cotton blend with a hint of stretch. This dress can be custom made to your measurements, and in a variety of color, I think it would also look amazing in green!
